one of my fish had whitespot, and then just became seriously ill.. laying at the bottom of the tank and not moving to eat.

that fish died yesturday, so i cleaned out 75% of the water and put the fish back in.

since then, another of my fish has started twitching and doesn't look very happy atall?

what should i do and is there anything i can buy if the fish doesn't get better?

  1. Your fish are probably very stressed because its most likely they have ich.

  2. I like to put olive oil on my fish before I cook it on the grill. I put some oregano as well.

  3. Clean   the  tank

  4. ok this happens all the time and its happened to you: one fish gets a disease from the pets srore you got it at, or it just naturally happened. the fish dies and it seems its all over but it spreads through the water so its gonna kill some or all of your fish. go to google and search something about fish diseases and treatments. it'll probably bring you to a page with sicknesses and diseases. try to find out what disease or sickness it has and find out where to buy the medicine at. but first put some fish cleaner and solution to clean your tank but first, do another water change. then put in the water cleaner and then, put in the medicine in there and hope for the best.

  5. The disease that looks like white spots is called Ich. It is very contagious in the aquarium and it causes the fish to scratch against objects in the aquarium and also against the aquarium glass. In order to avoid a dramatic change in the water properties in your aquarium and avoid fish stress, don't do any water change at all. There are 2 great medications that instantly get rid of white spots or Ich. If you have just a fish aquarium with no invertebrates or corals, you can safely add a copper treatment that you will find in any aquarium store. If you do have inverts and corals use a medication that is called kick-ich which is reef safe. Copper is harmful towards inverts and corals but works great in fish-only aquariums. Ich is a very aggressive disease so you must deal with the problem as soon as you suspect a weird behavior in your fish or if you spot any white dots in them. Best of luck.

  6. 75% of the water is way to much to remove. Your fish is stressed big time. If it is a saltwater tank you should be doing 10% water changes. That's what we were told at least. You should also monitor nitrates, calcium, salinity, ph, etc. There are test kits at the store you can get to do this. Test the water and find out what is high and what isn't. Let's say you find out your nitrates are to high then your kit would tell you what you need to do to bring down the nitrate levels. Depending on where you live you may find a fish store that does free water tests. You could take them a sample tell them what is going on and based on the tests they can tell you where to go from here. Good luck to you.

  7. Raise your water temp to 80 degrees and try adding 1/2 tsp of freshwater aquarium salt pet gallon. The higher temp will quicken the whitespot life cycle and the salt will kill off any that remains.

If that doesn't work you need to move on to medications like QuIck Cure or Coppersafe.

  8. 75% is way too much to remove at one time.  It does cause stress.  Go to you local pet store and get medicine drops for ich.  Also get a hose that sucks out the dirt without having to remove the fish from the tank.  You did use drops to remove the chlorine from the water?  Try to keep the temperature of the new water as close as you can to the water left in the tank.  Good luck.

  9. it sounds like ich. dont change any more water. go to the pet store and get some med. follow the directions on the box. u will have to remove any charcoal your fillter holds. after treatment . replace 25% water and add new charcoal

  10. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO Clean ALL the water out and take the fish to the vet
