One of my profs sent us to this website for our work. But when i download a paper its in some weird code.help?

I just started college and my Astronomy professor sent us to this website that's through the school. This is where we should get all of our homework and such. Everytime I try to download an assignment from the website it opens in Notepad instead of Word and the whole document is a bunch of symbols and I don't understand how I can make it open and actually use words!!! Please help me.

What happens when you open it in Word or Open Office Write? What type of document are you downloading?

Do you know the file format of the assignment you download? If so you could mention it here.

Anyway, if others are able to open it in other programs like Word you could try opening it in your Word program too.

>> Right click on the file you downloaded. (the assignment)

>> Click on Properties,

>> Click on the Change button in the file type section.

>> Select your Word program there.

>> Hit Apply>Ok.

>> Now try opening it.

>> If it is not in the .docx it may also open in your internet browser, only if it not in a Word format.
