  1. What a sad situation.  He had the opportunity to get a ride in and opted to risk paddling in.  I'm not saying he wasn't a skilled surfer, because he surely was, but when it comes down to it you have to know when the odds are against you.

I hope this will be a lesson learned for others who are tempted to paddle into big surf.  At least have a safety spotter on the shore to call for help if needed.

  2. As surfers, I think  we are some of the most selfish people around.

But when any thing happens like this we are the most sympathetic and respect full. I am so sorry for all you guys that knew him.and obviously his family.

Respect for going out in anything that big. Braver man than me. R I P

  3. Peter Davi IS the MAN

  4. He wasn't anonymous.  It was Peter Davi, a well-known big wave rider in Monterrey.  RIP.  Apparently he turned down two rides from skis on tow teams that were out there to ride the huge swells.  Shame.  Guess he thought he could make the swim in.

  5. whats wicked sad to hear, im only 15 too and i cant imagine dying now esp. in a huge wave.

    R.I.P.

  6. =[ sad to hear about this, he was a good surfer. RIP and hopefully hes in heaven surfing and riding the clouds above us =].
