I thought it was dirt and have used different cleaners and bleach and scrubbed the toilet. It is not coming off. I looked today and there were a few tiny specks moving in there. It looks like dirt or fungus. These specks were not moving in water they were on the side of the bowl. In the tank there is what looks like more non moving specks or dirt. I poured bleach in there but things have not improved. What is all this. It is not in our other toilet. We have 2 sinks and a bathtub in that room and there is no problem with them. Its bad enough to have dirt but to have something moving is scary. I have used oxyclean, toilet bowl cleaners and soft scrub, bleach and lime away. They help only a little.

  1. Use a  bacterial agent in the tank. Vinegar, lysol spray disinfectant, dial anti -bacterial soap.

  2. that is just plain a*s gross. just take it and pitch it. you can go pick up a new toilet for less than $100 and there easy to install.

  3. If bleach isn't powerful enough, then try " muriatic acid " , this is a fairly strong acid  so be very careful. Keep face away from the acid when you pour it, wear rubber gloves  & make sure the room is well ventilated ( open window & put fan by the door if possible)  Pour about a cup of acid into your dirty toilet bowl & leave for 10 minutes.  Afterwards, using a long handled scrubber, give it a bit of a scrub & flush toilet 3 or 4 times to water down the acid, ( This will also clean out the drain pipes.) It works well, Just be very careful as burns hurt.

Muriatic Acid can be purchased at any building supply & hardware stores.

If you are on a septic tank, be sure to add some bacteria starter as the acid can kill off quite a bit of bacteria which help your septic system to work.

  4. you can buy a new toilet for 40 dollars at home depot go buy one save money on cleaner easy install toilet issue over. as a nurse I would say having crawling bacteria that are visible in toilet is not a good thing as all did you know what you flush a toilet particles of urine and f***s float through the air up to 25 feet settling on things you have on counter like toothbrushes, toothpaste, contact case, combs, brushes etc. why these things should be store in medicine cabinet ot closet or under sink. good luck
