One of the contenders for top pick Nathan MacKinnon named in the QMJHL team for Super Series
Nathan MacKinnon, a Canadian hockey player, who plays in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and is one of the favourite contenders to be selected among the top picks of the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) draft, would be representing QMJHL in
the Subway Super Series.
The 2012 Subway Super Series will be consisting of two matches and will be played between Team QMJHL and Team Russia on the 5th and 7th of November.
The first match will be played at the home of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, in the Centre d'Excellence Sports Rousseau in Boisbriand, Quebec. Whereas the other match will be played at the home of the Val-d'Or Foreur, in Centre air Creebec in Val-d'Or,
Quebec.
Dan Marr, the Director of the NHL Central Scouting had only the good words to say about the 17 year old forward as he praised his skills and the quickness and believes not many players can got ability to do that, as he said,
"His skill level with the quickness with which he can execute, read and react -- there aren't many players who can do that”.
The Halifax Mooseheads player is a player with “A” rating in the preliminary ranking of the NHL Central Scouting, along with his Halifax side team mates, fellow forward Jonathan Drouin and Zachary Fucale, who is a goaltender. The fourth player who got the
“A” rating is William Carrier, who is a forward of Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
The Halifax, Nova Scotia native MacKinnon had a great first season in the QMJHL as he scored at a healthy average of over one point per game and scored 31 goals and 47 assists for a total of 78 points in the 58 games. His five goals in Mooseheads’ 6-4 win
against Quebec Remparts was a record equalling effort, as he tied with Jason King for the record of most goals in a match.
The 5-foot-11, 179 pounder was also part of the Under-18 Team Canada in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and scored five goals and six assists for a total of 11 points in the five games.
