  3. a.  While true, it was not that big a deal, because the real shift for this issue was during the depression and WWII when the highways of the US were built.

    b.   The US shifted to being more of a exporter than an importer of consumer goods.  Factory work abounded.  You could buy textiles, shoes, clothing, underwear, wigs, candy, toys, gagets, tools, all made in the USA, and most was ready for export.  The US was starting to shift from being agricultural to industrial/modern/urban.  This is the best answer.

    c. While the west coast was growing, it had a long way to go still, and was not that populated or industrial until refridgeration and transportation improved.

    d.  This was never true.  There has always some sort of adversarial relationship between government and private business.
