The answer is:  a posture and balance that distinguishes them from ancestral reptiles of the Triassic.  Dinosaurs, whether they be bipedal or quadripedal, held their bodies above the ground while walking and standing rather than pulling themselves along and/or letting their bodies rest on the ground when "standing."  Think of the difference between the way a rhinocerous holds itself up and the way an iguana holds itself up.  They also used their tails to balance themselves, holding their tails straight out behind them rather than ever letting them drag behind them on the ground.
