One of the trees in my yard has a fairly deep hole in the trunk. Is there a compound I can use to fill it in?

My parents (always gloomy) warned me that the tree might fall on my house. The tree is still alive, producing leaves and seeds, but the fairly deep hole in the trunk is of concern as it might weaken the tree in a storm.

  1. There are different cement and asphalt compounds you can use but none of them will strengthen the tree.  A tree on top of your house would likely spoil your day so it may be a good idea to have a tree surgeon take a look at it if you are serious about saving it.
