Losing the final Test against South Africa by a huge margin of 309 runs, the newly retired http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 believes just one “poor day” cost Australia the entire series, as well as the chance to reach the top of the Test rankings.

the veteran Ponting, believe it was the second day’s performance which turned the tide against them.
“We know that one poor day in the entire series has cost us the series and the chance to get to number one in the world, which we all have worked so hard for and wanted so much,” said Ponting.
Ponting also believes if the Australian side had taken two more wickets on the final day at Adelaide, things would have been much different at Perth.
“That is Test cricket though, you have to take your opportunities. We had some opportunities in Adelaide to get a win and go 1-0 up and maybe things might have been different.”
