Question:

One punch knockout?

I was not much of a fighter in highschool, but as I got farther into college, I got into a few fights which were unavoidable. Out of about 7 fights, around 5 of them were 1 punch knockouts. I never considered myself an extremely powerful person, but very quick. My punch technique is very good and accurate, but I was wondering if speed could be more important than power in a 1 punch knockout.

  1. E = Mc2

    Speed is power.

  2. Yes it only takes 8lbs of weight to the jaw to knock someone out.

  3. Force = Mass X Acceleration

If you have a lot of acceleration you will generate a lot of force even if you do not have a lot of mass in your arm. When you throw a punch its building potential energy while its leading up to the target, the faster you throw your punch the more energy it builds and hits the target much harder. but make sure you put some power in it and turn your punches.

  4. Power is always a good thing. But as they say speed kills. Its hard to hit what you can't catch and if you are always loading up for that one punch KO they can time it and land combinations that could put you down.
