Question:

One side effect of ibuprofen is shortness of breath.Why would the drug cause this? Should I still take drug?

  1. I take it all the time for the arthritis in my back and to fight sinus headaches.  I never once had shortness of breath, where did you hear that was a side effect?


  2. You will be fine. Pretty much any meds for pain say that. I was in a very bad car accident and have spinal problems and I was put on a strong prescription pain med, that says it may cause shortness of breath, and even that didn't! So if a strong prescription pain med didn't, then a over the counter ibuprofen won't! So its okay, take them as needed! :)

  3. All drugs have side effects however, they are prescribed since the benefits outweigh the adverse effects. Some side effects do not occur in some individuals and most of them can be prevented and are well-tolerated.
