I want to make a website with a name like "mywebsite.tv". But I want to make one where there's ONLY one payment, no monthly or yearly payments, just one.

  1. You can't, domains are rented from the registrars. The best you can do is make as many payments at once as possible, I think GoDaddy and NetworkSolutions allow 10 yearly payments at once (You pay for 10 years at once)

  2. You can't.

  3. Actually the poster above me is wrong. The website http://www.networksolutions.com/domain-n...

Network Solutions allows you to register a domain name in groups of:

    1 Year

    2 Years

    3 Years

    5 Years

    10 Years

    20 Years

    100 Years

So one of these should be long enough to be consider "One Time" for you.

  4. A domain name is a leased thing, not an owned thing. A single payment implies a forever purchase. Sorry, no forever purchase of a domain name is possible. As an example, I buy a book at a bookstore, I lease a book at a library. If you think about it, it makes sense for domain names to expire. If they did NOT, then the database which connects domain names with an IP address would become bloated with dead and abandoned domain names linked to invalid IP addresses. All that would do is clutter up the data and make it take longer to resolve a domain name to an IP address.
