Question:

One tire wears faster than others....why?

I have a full set of Sumitomo HTR4 tires on my 2WD V6 S10 truck. One of my tires is worn around the outside of the tread, to almost bald. The problem is that the rest show good full tread, it's this only tire. And it is only the outside edge, the main tread area and inside are great - like the others. I have my tires normally rotated and the pressure is checked and correct. I do not drive hard. What is going on with this tire? I should replace it but it seems stupid when the others are going to go in about 20K themselves. Why just the outside edge of this one tire? It's been on both the front and the back....I'm lost.

  1. try getting the tire balanced

  2. You need a wheel alignment.

  3. Sounds like wheel alignment. How about the tire pressure?? This is very common with over-inflated tires. Can be something simple.. Hope this helps

  4. I assume you mean it is one of the front tires that is wearing this is caused by poor front end alignment your tow in and likely cast and camber are out of adjustment. Go to a good shop and get a four wheel alignment this will solve the problem, I would replace the worn tire at the same time good luck

  5. "Camber" Problem on that one side, Good Alignment to have it checked.

  6. Might be the suspension is off a bit on that tire.
