One week left for Ben Crane to find a spot in the Masters field
Only one week is left for the world No. 48, Ben Crane, to qualify for the first major event of the current year at Augusta.
The 36-year-old American professional golf player has not received the invitation card from the Masters Tournament officials.
The Masters Tournament is about to start and all the players in the top-50 have received an invitation, except Crane and Paul Lawrie.
Crane is a four-time PGA tour winner and is worried for the Masters. Last year, he won the title of the McGladrey Classic and reached the 48th position.
However, he still needs to show some major skills and is only left with a week to prove his mettle.
Lawrie is on the 45th position and he is expecting that he will receive the invitation this week. Similarly, Geoff Ogilvy ranks the 49th and Ryo Ishikawa is on the 50th.
Both have already qualified for the mega tournament and are now heading to Florida to be in the field of the Masters.
Now, there is a last chance left for Crane, as Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard is the final tournament to be played before the Masters in April.
The American is in the field of the PGA-staged event and is hopeful to boost his ranking. He knows the fact that if he misses the cut or finishes at the bottom of the leaderboard, it will be very difficult for him to make it to the Masters field.
"Different players can do different things," Crane said. "I can only help myself this week. We'll know at the end of the week".
"I never thought about it. I've never put it in my mind ... just kidding, I LOVE that tournament," he added.
Crane has been looking forward to winning a tournament since 2011. He has finished many tournaments on the top, but has also missed the cut in plenty of events too.
Arnold Palmer Invitational is the last opportunity for him to impress the officials and earn a green signal.
"It can do one of two things," he said. "It can help you, or you can think about it too much and forget to execute and play your shots".
The $6,000,000 tournament is staged at the Floridian site of the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando. Crane has to card good scores and several birdies to compete well against his rivals.
