  1. Bath them in a mild shampoo, try to let the shampoo sit on them for at least 5 mins to smother the fleas. You will also need to get a flea comb and basically pick off any remaining fleas after the bath. Be sure to rinse them well, and dry them well (a hair dryer set to low is fine, just keep the dryer moving to avoid burns). After wards, place them in a area that is warm, give them blankets etc, you do not want their body temp to drop.

  2. They are too young to have any medication used on them.  You are going to have to bathe them with a baby shampoo and comb them with a flea comb or pick the fleas off with your fingers.

  3. first, treat the mother with frontline or advantage, then you may safely put just ONE DROP of the same product on each puppy. my vet told me this 3 or 4 years back, and i have been doing it ever since. it works wonderfully. check with your vet if you want another opinion

  4. You can also use dawn dish washing liquid to give them a bath. It's very mild and gentle, and kills the fleas.  Be sure you dry them and keep them warm after washing to prevent them from getting chilled.

  5. Use AVON's Skin So Soft on them.  It will make the fleas flee!  It's safe and non-toxic too!

  6. NO meds yet they are toooo young and the meds could kill more than the fleas...

skin so soft is the best and safest...

don't put on mom either cause the pups crawl all over her and could get poisoned this way too...

when they are about five weeks then you can consider something but check with the vet first...

  7. We just got a puppy and she came home to us with fleas. we took the more natural approach and put Fresh garlic in our puppy's food and then rubbed the oil from it on her fur..... Worked GREAT without chemicals!

    Hope it helps!

  8. My vet told me it was safe to put front line on the Mother dog and it killed the fleas on the puppies. You can call your vet to double check because my dogs are larger than yours.

  9. You need a vet. Treating such young dogs needs special care. Get them to the vet ASAP. Such tiny and weak pups can lose a lot of blood to fleas. You really need to take better precautions with pregnant females and pups. 2 litters at once? I also think you need some basic dog care lessons.Maybe that's just me.....

  10. Call your vet. The fleas can make the puppies extremely anemic if not taken care of which can kill the puppies. Your vet will tell you how to get rid of them for sure, you may even need to take them in to the vet to have them bathed in a special shampoo.

  11. I had the same problem with my kitten,

We asked an owner of a petstore, and he said to use a comb to try to comb the fleas out.

  12. okay, that's a common problem. the four week old can be treated with advantage if they're over 2 lbs. and the two day old chihuahuas can be treated with the smallest pound dosage of product but only ONE DROP on each pup, no more. good luck!

  13. You can not treat the pups!  They are too young.  You need to clean up the mom and she can have Frontline placed on her  It is safe for nursing moms!

The pups will have to be clean up by your using a flea comb and making sure their bedding is completely cleaned up!

Call your vet and get the right meds for mom I believe mom can also have a Capstar tablet to kill all the fleas on her it will help to ensure she is flea free.

  14. Those poor babies. Mom should have been treated before the babies were born. Do not do or give anything to the puppies with out talking to the vet. You can try to comb most of the fleas from the puppies and pick off what you can until you get instructions from the vet. It does not take many fleas to make a grown chi sick. The little ones can get sick fast. Make sure they continue to eat well and often from mom.

We were told to treat mom with advantage as it is a weaker medication. But check with your vet anyway. Okay?
