  1. you can use a wire twist cap.  they're available in variety packs for about 3$ in most hardware and some auto stores.  where you're dealing with more than two wires, you'll have to "guestimate" on gauge, and it's a good idea to twist the wires together before putting on the twist cap.  One other option is butt connectors, but unless you already have a good set of crimpers, it will be hard to get good connection to all 4 other wires.  the "best" way to do this one is to get a bus bar (they carry them at most radio-shacks), but you'll want to make sure you get one with a high enough amp rating.  most bus bars have 8 or 16 connectors, but you can just leave the ones you don't use empty.  A bus bar will need a good box to mount in.  with twist caps and but connectors, I always tape them to help keep humidity out of the connection.  When tapeing electrical connectors you'll want to make sure you overlap the tape plenty.

  2. Your local hardware store should have a variety of wire connectors available.  The easiest thing to use would be a wire nut.  They come in different sizes for different applications.  There should be an illustration on the packaging that shows you how to use them.

  3. pigtail the four into two, then just use a wirenut to connect the one hot to the two

  4. Probably something like a Splitbolt and tape it really well.

  5. Depending on what your using it for, you could twist them together and use a small length of heat shrink wrap.

  6. The trade name for the item is a solderless connector. Wire nuts or crimp connector depends on the size of the wire. Also a split bolt, but it needs several layers of tape of the correct type and in the correct sequence.
