The Montpellier Herault right-back has been suspended from all footballing activities for one year by the LFP disciplinary committee following a journalist back in November this year
For hitting a journalist, reigning Ligue 1 champions, Montpellier Herault defender, Cyril Jeunechamp has been handed a one-year playing ban by the disciplinary committee of the Ligue de la Footballeurs Professionnels.
After his side’s 1-1 draw against Valenciennes in a Ligue 1 encounter on November 17, Jeunechamp hit L’Equipe reporter, Jose Barroso for an article that the journalist had writer earlier that week. The Frenchman was suspended for an indefinite moment following
his moment of madness and club president, Louis Nicollin swiftly criticised his player for his actions.
“This kind of behaviour is unacceptable, it is a blow to the club and I do not like it at all. The club will take action,” said the president.
After being suspended as a precautionary measure, the Heraultais defender has only recently found out about the decision made by the disciplinary committee. The sanction imposed on the veteran right-back is undoubtedly the heaviest in the history of Ligue
1.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cyril-Jeunechamp-c9678 who has been found guilty of hitting a L’Equipe journalist after the game between Montpellier and Valenciennes on November 17 in Week 13 of Ligue 1, and was suspended provisionally since, has been heavily penalised this Thursday by the
Disciplinary Committee of the Ligue de Footballeurs Professionnels. The Herault club’s defender was given a one-year suspension,” read a statement.
The news is certainly a big blow to Jeunechamp who at the age of 37, could have played his last match of the career at Valenciennes. This is indeed a sad end for a player who began his career with Nimes before moving to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 in 1997.
The ban is also a major blow to Montpellier management as the veteran defender was an integral part of the club’s locker room and his absence could have some effect on the team.
However, the verdict given by the LFP seems to be the right one as it is the moral responsibility of all footballers to keep a hold of their feelings.
