One-year deal with Tennessee Titans: Safety Aaron Francisco returns to pro action – NFL News
Former Indianapolis Colts’ safety Aaron Francisco is expected to return to action following signing of a year deal with the Tennessee Titans.
Aaron’s last stint was with the Detroit Lions but the team did not take him beyond training camp last year. He was cut in the post-training-camp consolidation of the roster down to 53-man squad, a mandatory requirement of National Football League – the regulator
of the professional league.
The confirmation of his deal with the Titans came on Friday but neither of the stakeholders disclosed value and other terms of it. Nevertheless, the contract has facilitated the player to have another shot at the professional league career, joining the team
from training camp, which is due to open later this month.
The six-year veteran safety played for the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL 2009-2010 season before being put on the waivers by them. He then joined the Lions but was cut before the start of the regular season.
He since then was available on the free agency. Apparently, the player’s ability of playing at special teams’ position has attracted him to the Titans.
Aaron has also played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2005 through 2008. His professional league record consists of 131 tackles and four interceptions. He was entrusted with 23 starting roles in total 75 games he has played during his entire pro career.
The safety’s signing is seen as a need-based move as the team had lagged quite behind other teams at the special teams’ position. This was one of the main areas of concerns for the team during the past season, and to some extent affected their progress in
the regular season.
Under the first year coach, Mike Munchak, the Titans had done well to end the past season with the record of 9-7. They were just shy of making it to the playoffs as at the end they went down to the bad luck and the opportunity was taken away by the unexpected
arrival of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Munchak is still with the Titans into the second year and is optimistic about taking the side even further this season. He believes that performance of the players like Aaron is going to be crucial to the team’s progression on the league’s points table.
