I'm wondering how I can changer her diet prior to testing to help her grow. She is allergic (not lactose intolerant but allergic/hives/etc if milk spilled on her) to milk. Does anyone know an inexpensive way to change to a gluten and milk free diet? HELP?????

  1. I don't think you should change her diet prior to testing.  If you do, you won't really know the true problem- if there is one.  You need to know for sure if she has celiac disease or not.  Then, you can proceed with finding out ways/foods to give her.

  2. Easy, yes!

    Inexpensive, mayyyyybe!

A lot of the flours you'd use instead of wheat are much more expensive. Gluten-free bread will set you back at least $4-6 a loaf. For starches, cook brown rice, quinoa, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes. Protein sources & vegetables don't really change, I don't think.  Is she okay with soy milk? You can try almond and fortified rice milk.

I'd just keep it simple at first. There is a gluten free section of most grocery stores. You can buy rice cereal (make sure it's not processed in a plant that processes wheat).

Honestly, I think it's worth a try before the testing. It is easy to switch over to a gluten free diet, so why not, if it might help her.
