Ongbamrungphan Busanan shines in group stage of Asia Youth U-19 Championships – Badminton news
Thailand’s young but spirited shuttler Ongbamrungphan Busanan played flawless badminton and served the notice of her potential in100 Plus Badminton Asia Youth U-19 on Monday, July 8, 2013.
She faced an Indian campaigner Shivani Ruthvika in group C match and their meeting prolonged to 28 minutes. This epic tussle ended in just two games as the Thai player swept the table with an impressive result of 21-12 and 21-13.
Ongbamrungphan did give Shivani even a single chance to proceed and put her expedition to halt in this prestigious tournament. With this splendid straight-set victory, she earned a vital match point for her team as well.
The opening game of match started with Ongbamrungphan unleashing a flurry of power packed strokes and confining her competitor in the rear court. She did not show any mercy and pocketed many valuable points in next couple of rallies.
Though, Shivani made every effort to tip the scale in her favour but she failed to hit the mark. She kept trailing behind on points table and ended first half of the deficit with a huge deficit.
After the mid-game break, Ongbamrungphan looked in prime touch as she kept the Indian shuttler busy just in returning her well placed strokes. She pocketed vital points at a steady pace and strengthened her grip over game.
In third quarter of the set, the Thai campaigner struck hard and widened the gap on points table. This significant lead of nine points helped her to register a winning margin of 21-12.
The second set of match was just a replay of previous one as Ongbamrungphan showed consistency in her performance. She ruled the court from very first stroke and maintained that upper hand till the last shot was played.
In first half of the set, Ongbamrungphan bagged many valuable points without any interruption and then mounted the pressure by adding more points in her total. She maintained a convincing difference on the points table and placed a decent total of 11.
After the one-minute break, she strengthened her grip and then registered a straight-set victory with 21-13 score on the board.
