Question

HDMI-dvd to receiver-tv. No picture, have sound. TV doesent reconize hdmi(under 'hdmi settings')? Checked and checked connections & manuals? 480i display from dish? Can't see why I don't get 1080p from dvd and from upconverson to 1080p from dish s.video. Any help would be greatly appreciated to the fullest. Have saved and saved to upgrade from 8yrs ago. May be i'm expecting to much or a small glitch, faulty cable..some guidence please.

It's difficult to say since your description isn't too clear.

As best I understand the issue there is no picture on TV from DVD player connected via HDMI?? But you don't say whether you have picture from Expressvu or how you have things connected (what to what via what type of cable) or ....??? So I'm just going to offer some possibilities:

- It's possible you have a bad HDMI cable, or

- some equipment has HDMI "handshake" issues solved by a firmware upgrade.

- a setting issue (e.g. you haven't selected the right HDMI input on the TV).

This type of issue is best addressed by taking things a step at a time. For example, connect the DVD direct to the TV ... get that working right. Then connect through receiver. Then add Expressvu (or do the TV first).

Note that the satellite receiver may not pass audio over HDMI (My 9200 PVR doesn't ... I have to use a separate optical cable for audio and HDMI for video).
