Up untill recently i've been getting DSP sound from the receiver, now it only does movie and music mode along with the other basic modes. I would like to get back to DSP, the sound is the best there, but i've tried everything and can't get it to lock into that mode anymore. Anyone know why? Thanks.

  1. Did you LOSE your optical or Digital coax source?? If so, you may lose some of the Surround modes....

Of course, if you didn't stop using those inputs on your amp, then the only other thing that would make you lose DSP modes is the DSP processor itself...after all, it's a microprocessor that actually drives that processor.....

Hmmm, there might be another possibility, so I'd at least give it a try...your MAIN micro may have some corrupted software, and it drives/communicates with the DSP processor.....

So....UNPLUG your amplifier from the AC wall socket for 5 minutes and plug it back in so the Main Micro will reload it's software instructions....

It MIGHT actually reset, and you MIGHT get all your sound fields back.....

  2. Look in your Onkyo instruction manual.  See if there is an instruction for "microprocessor reset" or something like that.  Just unplugging the unit may not perform a reset.  (This is the case in my Denon receiver.)  Generally the reset consists of unplugging the unit, and plugging it in while holding down one or more buttons (such as the power button),  But the units are different.  If necessary, contact Onkyo for more information.
