  1. Medical records are usually only available to the patient that they concern and the physician who treats that patient. The patient CAN authorize the release of the records to a third  party, but if this physician did not treat you, there is no way he can obtain your med. records w/o some sort of authorization.

  2. He can not view your GP records they are confidential within the practice and not available for hospitals to see. He sounds a disgrace to the medical profession

  3. he can only access them if you have ever been a patient at the hospital he works at he knows your hospital number. if he chooses to do this, remind him of patient confidentiality and how unethical it would be to date a patient of the hospital that he has chosen to get involved with on such a personal and professional level. then report him to the general medical council and british medical association, as he is obviously too immature to handle the responsibilities of being a doctor and it's better he's fired at such a junior level.

  4. He should not and in fact can not.

Firstly, it would be professionally unforgiveable and would cost him his registration (and rightly so). He should not access records of anyone unless that person is under his care.

Secondly, the computerised medical records are a long way away from anything like a reality (at a huge cost so far, some say around GBP12bn!). Even when they do come online, there is no reason that he should have the authority permissions to view them.

Even threatening to view medical records inappropriately should be taken seriously as it is a breach of the public's trust in the profession. I leave it up to you whether you wish to discuss this with the GMC.

  5. he can but its against the law-if he mentions anything that he has seen in your records report him at once-hes in a position of trust so the answer is yes im sure he can get access to them

  6. I used to be a medical secretary, and he cannot view your records.  There are no hospital records or GP surgery records online.  Some hospitals and surgeries have their own computer systems where they keep records, but the two systems aren't linked.

  7. If he can,he is breaking rules so report him to the GMC asap............

  8. not terribly likely that he can see your GP records. Even the new on-line records will not be available to him on-line, unless the GP gives him access, which is also HIGHLY unlikely. And besides, the on-line records being introduced at the moment are very basic demographic things, like address, DOB, and other basic things.

Those doctors who have online access would need to have it, and i can't think of why an SHO would have access to Choose & Book system in the first place. It's usually only the Consultant... and then again, as i said, it would only be to basic demographic details, and if the GP surgery is VERY jacked up (and believe me, VERY few are)... then it may have some of your medications and prescriptions, particulartly if they are repeat prescriptions. I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about.
