i suggest staying away from them.  you WANT a local agent in your corner.  this way you have one person taking care of your accounts who knows you and your needs.  if you ever have to file a claim, you have a local agent to help if the need arises.  when you purchase policies online, you NEVER get the same person twice.  i have had a lot of people come to me to rewrite policies after using an online company because only AFTER something happens do they find out they did not have the coverages they actually needed.

I wouldn't recommend online insurance companies.  They might offer cheaper rates but they are not personalized at all.  If you have a problem and need to call them for any reason, you will talk to a different person every time.  If you go with a local insurance company or insurance agent, you will get more personalized service which is a good thing if you ever get in to an accident or have your car stolen.  When it comes to auto insurance, cheaper isn't always better. You want an insurance company that is going to pay up if you need it
