Online Money Making Opportunities... Success or Scam Stories?

Question

Has anyone actually paid the £20 or so to register with one of these websites that are like 20foot long and promise thousands of pounds practically overnight with little work?

now i know such claims are impossible, or would be for someone like me... but has anyone made money with them?

im looking for responses for real people who have either been scammed or had a success not just yet another company claiming they've made thousands with them that are being paid to say that.

There are many ways to make money online. The real trick is sorting out the legitimate money-makers from all the scams that are out there (many of which get listed at Yahoo Answers, I'm afraid).

There's a terrific list at eHow that gives more than 25 legitimate ways to make money online.  The list covers everything from writing (articles, blogs), to selling photography, to (believe it or not) getting paid for online jury duty, surveys, and focus groups.

There's even a site for making money listening to music and rating it, and another for playing online games.

None of the sites in the article ask you for any money.  And while they won't make you rich, you can begin to build up a respectable income.

The way most of the companies work it they are pyramids schemes.  The person at the top gets loaded.  The people at the bottom don't.  If you are willing to ask every person you ever see or know to sign-up to do this too then you may make good money.  The money is made off the registration fees, not off the products they are usually selling.

I have been scammed. The good news is, I have now made a lot more money than I lost in the past. What I lost, I consider, the cost of my education.

I once bought a VIP Membership, advertising and signups for a program that has been in prelaunch for 2 years. It  never launched! The site is still up and I still get emails but it never opened.

With another one, I upgraded my Membership and purchased signups (almost $1000). After sending a number of  emails to the company and the payment processor the site ending up closing down and has since been sold.

So yes, there are scams out there. I have found some programs that work for me which you can read about here:

They are ALL scams .. and (at least in most countries) totally illegal (Pyramid Schemes) ....

My general rule of thumb is that if you're paying to make money, something's wrong.

That said, there are a ton of websites out there that are free to join and really do pay.  I've been working with one GPT site and reliably making $30-40 a month with no referrals.  Not going to get rich, but its nice to have a little extra cash.  On top of that, I've been doing paid surveys with a bunch of sites and usually get paid $5-10 a month from that as well.  Again, this is all with no referrals.  So yes, it is possible.

When you're looking at working from home there's basically two choices. You'll either be working for a company, or working for yourself. I'm not sure how you'd work for a normal company from home but I'm sure most people working online work for themselves anyway.

There's a lot of ways of making money online but most of them are scams or make next to no money. Don't even bother looking into things like

rebate processing (just a scam usually or next to no money)

multi-level-marketing, (only the original seller makes money)

the paypal send a dollar pyramid schemes, (pretty sure it's actually illegal)

surveys, (scam, you pay to sign up and they hardly send you any surveys)blogging, (legit, but you'll only end up making $5/month or spamming yahoo answers with links to ur blog lol)

or data entry. (kinda legit but you have to pay to sign up then usually never get work)

The more legit ways of making money online are affiliate marketing, or things like selling on ebay or selling stuff outsite ebay.

I've been working at home for 3 years and I still run across new ways to make money online. Most of them aren't very profitable though. Anything you do to make money online is going to take a lot of work. The work's not always hard, but it's pretty much always time-consuming.

Finding a legitimate way to work at home isn't hard. There's plenty of places you can pay for the information (even though there's a lot of scam sites too) One of the really hard things about working at home is staying focused. You'd be surprised how hard it is to just sit down and work at home infront of your computer for hours on end. There's some days I hardly make $50 because I just can't focus and other days if I'm having a really good day and working hard I'll make as much as $300. Like anything in life, you get what you put into it.

One of the biggest things that's helped me is to not reinvent the wheel lol. See what other people are doing to make money online and just copy them. Like a lot of popular online products come with resell rights, meaning you can sell their products after you buy it. Since you already know it's popular and sells well and you don't have to worry about shipping or anything, it's an easy enough way to make money (especially since most of them usually come with a sales page)
