  1. Texas doesn't have many online public charter schools.  Those are the ones that furnish books and supplies.  You will have to enroll in a different type of online school - one you pay for.  The costs start around $350/course/semester for tuition, plus the costs of materials.

Here are some online programs you could look into:

    Apex:

K12 (uses some Apex courses and some of their own):

(You would do "Consumer Direct", not a virtual school)

    Florida Virtual School:

    NorthStar Academy:

    UNL Independent Study High School:

Center for Distance and Independent Study:

These schools furnish transcripts and some have diploma programs.

  2. No, it doesn't matter what state you live in. On line ed is considered distance learning....often, you don't even have to live in the same country.

To minimize hassle, most on line schools include books and supplies in the tuition cost. You order them through the website before classes begin and they are shipped right to your door.

Find an accredited program....accreditation is crucial, but with criminal justice being a popular major, it shouldn't be too tough to find a program that is fully accredited.

Try contacting the schools in your area to see if they offer on line classes. On line courses taken at a school that also has a physical campus are regarded higher than those taken at strictly distance learning programs. Plus, it is a good idea to try to find a school nearby in case you need to visit campus for any reason.

EDIT: The info I posted is regarding college programs....If you're looking to finish High School, you might have some trouble.
