Are there any good ACCREDITED online schools to become a teacher? I am looking to go back to school to be an elementary teacher, I have some college credits, but not a lot, maybe a year and a halfs worth.

Plus I know I won't get financial aid but I dont want to pay an enormous amount of money either. are there any online programs that are approved by the NY dept. of education?

I see a lot of these schools are SPAM and not accredited.

Help please, anyone with personal experience I will be grateful!!

  1. there are ACCREDITED, NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED colleges and universities out there which are offering teaching programs completely online. the misconceptions are there because of varied information about online courses. for a comprehensive complete guide to online colleges and universities, partiuclarly the program you are interested in, simply visit  http://www.onlineedublog.com/

financial aid is available in variuos forms and the college and universities listed here are accredited so you dont have to worry at all about spam :)

    hope it helps :)

  2. I did an online Master's program with the University of Phoenix, but I'm not sure if they have a Bachelor's program.

  3. Any good program will have a large component of hands-on practice teaching experiences.  You will not be able to complete the whole degree online.

  4. I agree with whoever said you will not be able to do everythig online- I'm sure there will be requirements such as field work but there are accredited programs out there.  Below is a site that has a map of the US and you click on your state and it lists the accredited schools that are nationally recognized.  If you're looking at a purely "online" school, it's probably not going to be listed.  However, many larger universities now offer online degrees.  Pick a few from your state and check them out.  You can always check with your state department of education as well.

  5. Go to your State Board of Education to obtain a list of accredited programs that they will accept. Then check out each program. You will need to have a B.A. or B.S. to get a license to teach. You might be able to substitute teach with some college credits depending upon the school district.
