Question

could someone give me a guide on setting up a small shopping business online.im not looking to make huge amounts of money so was considering maybe an ebay shop and a website connecting it. im from the UK so i need to know the laws and tax,vat ect ect that apply to buisness in the uk.thanks in advance!

Sell products via free affiliate programs through free web hosting sites like tripod.com and geocities.com I also would recommend affiliatespartner.com as well. You will not have to pay resale tax just income tax. You can also sign up for Google Adsense and get extra money as well.

You're into ONLINE business not offline so I don't think you'll have to pay expensive fees like the offline businesses. Till you start why not go without worrying about those things, I think you'll only have to worry if you start making real money!

Now, my short guide would be:

1. Register a domain

2. Buy a hosting

3. Test the market (you need to do market research and keyword research which you can find on the site I gave you).

4. Optimize your site.

5. (optional) get security certificates like hackersafe so people know that they're buying from you.

6. If you're selling physical products, you may want to focus only on UK market. There are lots of marketers from the UK who do this kind of stuff.

One of my buds is from the UK and his bro is self employed in UK and got most help from the local government self employment programs. They can be found by contacting your local enterprise development center where you sign up for a business licence and research the rules and regulations locally. You'll need VAT reg number etc to properly submit your taxes even collected online and get the wholesale and tax benefits of a registered business. If you've been 'employed' some government branches have self employement incentive programs to help you get started with small grants for your business idea/venture.

You DO NOT need a credit card or any money to start, all you need is a mailing address where you will receive your pay-checks.

You really can make money online, and it's not hard at all.
