Online digital Compass?

Question

Is there any way I can find out if a place is situated in a particular north,south,east or west direction - like with an online (UK) multimap?

I don't have a compass and don't intend to get one for this one thing i just need to know. I've tried making one but it went wrong.

Anyone?

Go to google maps and put the place in.....north, south east or west of where?  You can put your starting location in and ask the map to show you the route to somewhere else, it will highlight the route which will show you where it is in relation to where you started....is that what you are after...your question is not really clear.
