In the State of Louisiana, a High School Diploma earned through a non-traditional institution may not receive the same recognition as a resident diploma.

  1. Homeschoolers do go to college all the time based on their SAT scores or ACT scores, even if they don't use any accredited school.  The stay says that to discourage homeschooling, and to alleviate themselves of any responsibility if your college of choice doesn't admit you for any reason.  Notice that it says, "may not" instead of "will not"  they are just covering their rears.

    Try http://www.edanywhere.com

    or http://www.k12.com

You can homeschool and get into college, and you don't really need to be enrolled in any program to do it, but you might be more comfortable, and have slightly easier time with record keeping if you enroll in one.

  2. Hey there,

I am no expert in this but I want to tell you that I had issues with highschool as well. I went to a private school for about 3 months and then quit. I kinda meandered for awhile.

Then I just got my G.E.D. I got it at the local Jr. College. I had no problems with registering at that school.

I went on to get my Associates in Arts and Sciences, Bachelors of Psychology and Masters of Science in Counseling and Human Development and I am now working on my Doctorate.

I used to be so embarrased that I did not graduate high school, then I realized that I was the only one. Noone cared. They still don't. I am the one that chooses to tell.

Obviously, if you want to get into Harvard or need SAT's etc. it won't work. But, a 4 year will look at your JR. College records. They will accept you. Both may put you on probation for awhile but its worth it.

BTW, I would have been 19 if I would have graduated so you are definetly not the only person that has been in this kind of situation and I hope that helps

    good luck
