You can consider purchasing airline vouchers and coupons. They are cheaper compared to normal airline tickets. Try established sites like http://vacanttravel.com and http://ebay.com

Watch out for scammers though. Don't bother buying them from classified sites like craigslist.

Also, check whether the vouchers are exactly what you want i.e. it allows you to fly when and where you intend to go
