Online postal pick up?

I went on the usps.com website and saw that you can buy postage for a package and leave it on your doorstep for the mail carrier to pick up. Has anyone ever done this? I"m not sure about it.

  1. The carrier will knock on your door if you request this service, and it is available in your area.  I would not leave your parcel outside, too risky
