  1. At your age, (old enough to be in the military) I would look into an online college. The requirements are different for different schools, but you could take 090 level classes which are prep classes to help you get up to college level ability in areas like writing and math if you're not already there.

Most on line college classes assign some reading, then require either a written assignment of some sort or a test. And yup, it can be boring, but part of the benefit of school is to teach you self discipline- which means doing things you don't particularly like doing in order to reach a goal. The best thing about college is you study for a major in something that is of interest of you, unlike high school. So while some of the required classes might be boring, most of them will have to do with your area of interest. If you haven't finished high school, most colleges offer a GED class to finish up your high school work.

Since classes are on-line you could probably still do some work while you're deployed, depending on your duty station.

You'll have to contact the school to find out specifics about stopping a class and starting back up later. There are thousands of online degree programs, just google "online degree program" Once you find one that looks promising, check with the Better Business Bureau in the state where the school is chartered or licensed to make sure it's not a scam. That's awesome that you are motivated enough to want to pursue a better education! Best of luck to you and thanks for defending our country.
