Online stories for children about protecting the environment?

Could someone please recommend some childrens' stories that are available online about protecting the environment?

Don't you think you should read children fun books not filled with political messages?  They are kids for crying out load.

Try The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. You should buy the book or even the DVD though.

It's not environmentalism that is shoved down your throat. It was my favorite Seuss book 30+ years ago.

I'd look into the websites of The Nature Conservancy, World Wildlife Fund, Sierra Club, etc.  They all have online gift shops and nearly all have sections on children's books.  This should give you a good jumping off point.  You can find a number of title's there and then see what content is available online.

I know Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" is online and I think an aspect of that is a cautionary tale about the value of nature.
