Question:

Online wedding dresses...?

Is it safe to buy a wedding dress that I found online? From a company and not a private seller. If I give them my exact measurements is it likely to be disappointed when the actual dress comes in the mail? What should I be weary of? Thanks :)

  1. For our wedding, we spent more money on the wedding and reception. To stay in budget, my wife opted for a used wedding dress.  She looked awesome.  It's been in a box for the past 8 years, she always comments how glad she is that she didn't buy it new.

I agree with the aboves advice for online dress purchasing....probably goes for anything you buy online.

  2. I bought my dress off of eBay - it came in PERFECT, just as it looked in the picture and fit my measurements EXACTLY.  My cousin sews and she commented that they used a very good quality material and the workmanship was very good (my dress has red embroidery that is REAL embroidery, not like a popular chain where I tried on a dress that had lace cut-out and tacked to the dress).  I used the seller gianinarbridal on eBay.

    What to watch out for:

1- don't wait to order.  order ASAP so if it comes in and you don't like it or something is wrong the seller can either fix it or  you have time to run somewhere and buy a dress off the rack.

2- check out the return policy for the seller.  my seller reimbursed all but 50% of the shipping.

3- look for feedback or referals where you can either by phone or e-mail communicate with a real person who dealt with them.

4- if possible use a credit card that offers 'buyer protection'

5- be wary of sellers showing pictures of a designer gown that promise a "similar" designed dress.  you want to know what your dress is really going to look like, not see a designer gown and get a cheap knock-off that doesn't even resemble it.

  3. Go find the dress, its far better to travel even 3-4 hours and find the dress that you want rather than go online and get it....

Because if you end up getting it, and are disappointed what will you do?

Suggest trying consignment shops or online even (in the sense where you can meet someone etc...)

  4. It's better to just go to the store and buy it because most web site's return policies are WAY stricter than those at the store.
