However, the versatile midfielder’s representative has confessed that the Magpies are the only club thus far to have tabled a bid to acquire his client’s services.
Anita, who is a product of De Joden’s fabled youth academy, has been putting in consistent performances for the past couple of seasons, and played an integral role in his side’s back-to-back Eredivisie triumphs.
Following his impressive performances, several English Premier League clubs have expressed keen interest in signing the talented midfielder before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut.
And the Dutch international’s agent has confirmed that there are some clubs playing in the highest echelons of English football eager to land his client’s signature.
“What I understand from Ajax is that there are some Premier League Clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 who are seriously interested. Clubs like Aston Villa, Norwich City, Sunderland and Newcastle United have asked about the status of the player.
This is quite normal because Vurnon Anita was one of the best players in the Ajax team in the last two years, and will be one of the new Dutch internationals”, Lulofs was quoted as saying to Gazette.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew’s side had long been linked with the 23-year-old, and had seen a bid in the region of seven million Euros rejected by the Amsterdammers management earlier this month.
The Dutchman’s representative went on to reveal that only Magpies have thus far tabled a bid, which was rejected by the Ajax management.
“Only Newcastle United have made a written offer to Ajax, who didn’t want to let the player go for that money”, Lulofs concluded.
Anita has a contract at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2014, and reports indicate that an offer in excess of 10 million Euros would be needed to lure the midfielder away from the Eredivisie champions this summer.
