Please only answer this if some type of self induction worked for you, What did you do? how long did you do it for? and how long did it take to work? I'm 38 weeks and 3 days and i'm 1cm dilated and my cervix is soft, i've been losing my mucous plug for a week and my doctor said I could start trying to self induce safely to get the baby here hopefully this weekend, if not they want to induce me probably late next week but I would rather go in labor on my "own". I have had some real contractions and lots of braxton hicks and tons of pressure and back pain. i've been walking and i've tried s*x. give me as much info as you can please i'm so ready for this baby and I think she's ready too but just needs more encouragement.lol.

  1. Having s*x worked for me. Here is the hard part though. Having an actual o****m will help to actually start contractions. The s*x act loosens things up, but an o****m (as difficult as that will be to get right now) will help so much. try some other types of sexual stimulation, this is a good time to get creative...

    Best of luck to you!!

  2. self induction kinda baffles me.

I had s*x the night before i went into labor, well like 6 or so hours. I was 7 days over due. i dont know if the s*x is what caused labor to start, or if i didnt have s*x would i have gone into labor anyways?

Nipple stimulation is suppose to help, s*x...but who's to say forsure if it will help...you can do it, maybe go into labor in a day or 2 or a week, but can you proove you wouldnt have gone into labor without doing any of that stuff? I dont know, baby will only come when they are ready, regardless of self induction in my books.

  3. What got me pregnant in the first place brought on labor with our third... and it was within 20 minutes. There is something in a man's s***n that can "soften" your cervix and like I said, within 20 minutes my contractions started...

My aunt had a pedicurist do "reflexology" points on her feet during her pedicure. Shortly after she did the points, my aunt started to feel strange/sick and the next morning was in labor. By that night she had her son.

  4. castor oil works but it brings on some nasty poops and abdominal cramping. also don't drink anything for a day and the dehydration could bring on some contractions. you are still a little early.( i know, your sick of being pregnant and just want to meet this baby already. i don't blame you.) you can look up ways to naturally induce on the internet. you could have your midwife sweep your membranes. i believe its just best to wait it out. good luck.

  5. Go swimming! Find a pool anywhere!! And swim swim swim! it put all my sisters in to labor 1-2 days later! Good luck DON'T do castor oil..It will make you soooo ill ..I tried it with my first and threw up and crapped for 10 hours after I took it! Its dangerous!

  6. I took caster oil with all three of my pregnancies and it worked every time.  Its nasty stuff but it defiantly works if your body is ready.  blender 2 oz of caster oil with a cup of vanilla ice cream and chug... that is the most palatable way i've found to drink the stuff.  Within 4 hours I was in full blown labor every time.  best wishes.

  7. My friend had s*x, that helped her

  8. i had a doctor's appointment the morning of the day that i had both of my children. i had the same symptoms that you had before i went in and got major contractions almost as soon as the appointment was over. i think "being checked" was the kicker for me.

  9. I swear evening primrose oil is what did it for me. this is what my midwife told me to do

Use an infant medicine syringe(disposable kind that you can get at the pharmacy). Break open 3-4 capsules of evening primrose oil(use a needle or bite a hole in the top) and squeeze it into the synringe to about 1cc. Get rid of any air bubbles(like nurses do for shots, its important) and then squeeze the oil internally up by your cervix. you can also take capsules orally.

you can also try red raspberry leaf tea or just take the capsules. RRL is a medieval form of self induction. I used both RRL tea(get the organic) and evening primrose oil. for the tea I brewed 3 bags in about 8oz  hot water and allowed it to cool. Its better as an ice tea and lemon helped improve the taste. I drank the tea before labor, during labor and afterwards.

by the time I started trying this I was already past due but my son was born less than 24hours after I started my self induction regimen.

  10. walking alot is what helped my go into labor especially when my contractions where coming i would walk alittle more and then just stand there to wait till it finally went away and then back to walking some more :)  i was 3cm for two to three wks with my 3rd preg and thats when i decided to walk more and wait until the contractions stayed close together and stronger before i went into the hospital i got there  and was still only 3 cm but i was having very strong contractions. I started walking that morning around 10am went to the hospital between 2-4pm and had him at 6pm Good luck
