Question:

Only beautiful people matter?

We are all use to seeing tales of tragedy in the news paper. But have you noticed the only ones that get the major attention are the ones that feature good looking people. Some high school teen was a victim of a hit and run. She is not the first nor the last, but oddly enough she was good looking. Just like the woman on the Caribbean cruise. She was not the first one to be kidnapped. But yet she got media attention because she was beautiful. And we wonder why kids grow up with low self esteem. Does anyone else find this trend disturbing??

  1. Its always been that way its not a trend. YOu feel that way because you have been educated that everyone is equal and all that other bs. Look at disney. The basic premise of all disney movies are that if you are cute you really matter and if you are ugly you must be some sort of villain.

  2. There is a horrific example of what you are speaking of. Hundreds of native prostitutes have gone missing in the past 5 years in the province of British Columbia. Although the police knew that Robert Picton was guilty of not only killing over 25 of these women, he was only charged with 5 of the murders and the charge was second degree murder. He operated a pig farm, and these women were butchered and ground up like hamburger.

It wasn't until thousands of posters were put up by family members and many attempts to get the police to take notice, that they eventually took some action. The inaction of the police was solely due to these girls being native - and prostitutes that made them dispensible and of no consequence to anyone but their family's.

  3. true, but nothing you can say or do will change it. Beautiful people usually have higher social status than other people. Higher social status is more important. If you walk into the room and there are 3 beautiful people, a handful of ugly ones and everyone else is average, you will automatically assume that the better looking ones are higher up on the social scale. It's just the way we think and the way things work. Also, I bet if you had to spend a day with a total stranger, but you could pick who it was, you would choose the beautiful girl over the not so confident, shy, fat girl.

not saying I agree with it or whatever, but thats just the way things are, and will always be.

  4. Yes but its not only just disturbing its also quite sad

  5. Strip away the skin and we all look alike. It is just a sad thing that some people don't look beyond the skin. I find many interesting people who are less than beautiful, yet are the real; movers and shakers of the world. It is disturbing to see such shallow takes on living creatures like humans.

  6. Sorry, but you missed something.

A number of kids might get shot to pieces in some school in somewhere USA, and it's news.  Yet, there there are kids dieing of starvation, deprivation, murder, abuse ~ being forced to lead the life of 'boy' soldies and carry guns and terrify and kill through the orders of adults - every day in Africa.

How does that balance the book!

    Sash.
