  1. As you said, these cosmopolitan cities might grow rapidly, but dont have an identity of their own. But cities that blend the old with the new and are good at accepting change and using their history and ethnicity to their advantage(eg Delhi, Chennai) grow at a slower but sustainable pace and are more liveable than the so-called fast cities

  2. You are correct, it is basically the Indian mentality to accept the new thing, technologies, people. The hospitality are in their blood.  If you watch, bit carefully, you can find that, when it comes to the neck of Son's of Soil, you might have observed the resistance from people. That is the reason, when unemployment to localities grows and cross a certain limit, the people will revolt.

You may ask why the Bangalore is flourishing ? the reason is Bangaloreans are more open hearted, in accepting them faster than other Cities in India. In TN language is a major factor, in WB it is the Unions. In NY it is the necessity. It is only in Singapore, all can live in peace, due to Indian impact, from British Raj, and Government regulations giving equal prominence to, Mandarin, English & Tamil. Both language and people.
