I would like to know if this would work. I read it in a Survival Handbook. It is only if you can not possibly get to a hospital. Don't worry nobody is bleeding, I just would like to know.

"Some data indicates that pure granular sugar poured into a penetrating wound can decrease bleeding, promote clotting, and discourage bacteria. You are not likely to see it used in your local emergency department, but it might be worth consideration if your circumstances are dire."

  1. Any port in a storm, I suppose. Very high concentrations of sugar can fight off local infection: a mixture of honey and Betadine has been used as a topical agent in burn units, but the studies are small.

  2. I believe this was used in battlefield wounds in old times.
