I've been doing Parkour for a while (1/2 year) now. Can anyone explain what their schedule of pracice is so I can practice more moves. I mean, like what kind of things do you train when YOU are training.

  1. Haha I'm strictly in training right now because I'm 13! But I can tell you what I do.

I go out everyday and practice. I found that the local highschool is parkour heaven!! Each day I start vaulting on low things that are mid height between my knees and waist. After I've warmed up I move on to rails about waist high, practicing different vaults. Remember, it's all about getting it perfect. If my feet stutter before a vault, I go back and repeat. It needs to be perfect.

I do this for a good while then I move on. I like to head over to some bleachers and practice jumping up and down, both feet together. I do this so I can get accurate control on each one of my jumps. If I wobble landing, I jump again. If I feel insecure with a jump, I jump again. Balance is key with parkour.

After this I just do random parkour moves. I practice my cat jumps. I practice balance walking and cat walks. I do all that good stuff. (i can normally find a rail to do this on, or i make do with what i have)

By now I'm craving some good ol' fun. So I walk around to look for a good spot to do some real parkour. Recenly I went under the foot ball bleachers and climbed up from underneath. It was great fun!!

Normally when I get home I do a mile on the tread to help me with endurance and so I can build up speed.

If there is a day where I can't go out, I work on strength training indoors. I like doing 50 wall push-ups during various times during the day, getting on the treadmill, all that good stuff.

Just make sure you are always practicing. Recently I've started this thing where you are always aware of what's around you and what you are doing. Like if you're walking, know how many steps till you get to _ and which foot you'll be on and which part of your foot will be touching that place. Also notice what obstacles are around you and how you would get over them. It's like a mind game that you can do anywhere. You should constantly be aware of what you're body is doing. Like you may notice when you walk, your arms start swinging uncontrolably. Try to correct these things.

I'm in hardcore training right now so I can learn faster. For one it's harder for me because I'm a girl, although I'm getting very good, but also because I have 2 guy friends who are older (18 and 21) who do this daily as well and are amazing. So, I guess I have something to live up to.

Good luck on your training =]

Oh, and feel free to email/IM if you have more questions or just want to talk about parkour!!
