  1. we didn't evolve from apes.. you are one of a number of un-informed people making conclusions prematurely, no offence.

we shared a common anscestor with apes.. making us related..

like cousins, we share a grandfather, but you didn't come from your cousin...

we still have apes around as the environment has been conducive to that form of life.. if say the entire continent of africa flooded.. modern apes couldn't survive. only under circumstances like that would there no longer be apes..

even if we DID (we didn't) come directly from apes.. there's no reason fro them to die out..

i hope you understand... we didn't come from apes..

  2. The very first step in getting an answer is to search for one.  THEN you ask the community.  As noted by the FRONT PAGE of Yahoo Answers!:

"Can't find it with search? Ask"

By typing in "why are there still monkeys" into the search bar ON THE FRONT PAGE, I got the following results from the first page of the search:

  3. This has been asked and answered so many times I can only conclude you are

    a) too lazy to look it up: or,

    b) too dumb to understand the answer: or,

    c) fully aware of all this and can't come up with anything original: or,

    d) a believer in evolution who is trying to make creationists look stupid by asking this type of question

  4. Because evolution is not a chain ... it is a tree.

If the theory of evolution was that one species (some species of monkey or ape) evolved "into" another and therefore got replaced by it ... then *LOGICALLY* there would only be one species on the planet.   In other words, that would be a truly absurd theory.

So clearly that is NOT the theory of evolution.

Instead the theory of evolution says that species *BRANCH*.

Why do species branch?  Because populations get separated from each other.  Rivers cut through valleys, climate change dries up valleys between mountain ranges, islands get isolated from the mainland, continents drift apart, and on and on.   So if a species gets split into two populations that are no longer interbreeding ... then their genetics develop in different ways until they are no longer *able* to interbreed ... they have become separate species.

Once a species has *branched* into two or more species ... then they are *permanently* two separate branches in evolution

... so several branches can go on to become the ancestors to all the modern monkey and ape species ... and one branch can go on to become the ancestors to modern humans.

If you don't understand *branching* ... you don't understand evolution.

  5. i still laugh whenever i see this question.  even if you were the first person to think of this question... it's still not a very good question.  as if all of the world's scientists have overlooked something like that.   it sounds like a article that would be in The Onion.  "Evolutionary scientists baffled by the discovery that monkeys still exist"... lol
