Only have the portable phone dual handset...without the phone jack....can i use it?

There will be a "base" unit with all cordless telephones.  The base unit connects to the telephone jack.  It is also the control unit that converts the cordless signal to audible voice & tones to connect and converse once the phone line is engaged.

You will have to have a "base" unit to get the cordless handsets to operate.
