Question:

Only my right wrist hits the ball?

I've tried everything to get my bump right, and still it shanks all the time. I follow through, keep my eyes on the ball, all that.

But everytime I go for it, my right wrist is the only one that makes contact. What am I doing wrong?

And I'm not sure if this is relevent, but I'm sort of skinny and I dont have much fat on my arms so really my wrists are all bone.

Is this whats causing my bump to be horrible?

I only have 3 more days to practice, I'm worried.

Help me please ! (:

  1. it's because your right shoulder is raised slightly higher than the left

just be sure to always keep your shoulders even!!!

don't worry it happened to me so i have a huge bruise on my right arm

  2. it's because your thumbs aren't even and that makes one arm slightly higher than the other.  Really work on your thumbs being even and pointed towards the ground.  the amount of fat on your arms doesn't matter so no worries there.  Just work on your thumbs being even with each other and that should work.  let me know how it goes!

  3. I don't think being skinny is the problem.... its just the matter of how ur form is... do more wall excercies... while doin that get somebody to kinda keep an eye on how ur arms are, how u position yourself infront of the ball, and your balance and I think u'll be able to figure it out :D :D

  4. I will combine the above answers.

You could have a great platform and your right shoulder might be higher.

Make sure your platform is correct.  Make sure your thumbs and the heels of your hands are together.  You can put your hands many different ways after that.  The key to a flat platform is the thumbs and the heels of your hands.

Try passing short distances with a partner.  Two or three feet.  You need to practice easy passes first and then worry about adding distances later.  It could be a confidence factor now.  You do not think you can pass, so you can not pass.  You think every pass is going to hit your right arm, so it is going to hit your right arm.  Start with short easy passes to build your confidence.  Move your partner back a step and get good passes.  Move back another step and get good passes.  Until you are twenty feet apart.

  5. It is not about fat or no fat :) Keep in good shape, you should be proud of yourself.

You just need a good coach like gordonmorrison

The key to a good pass is to form the platform with your forearms... basically you put your **wrist** together and "twist" your arms a little bit so that your **elbows** can stay "as close as possible". That would make a visible (you will be excited to see it) good platform between your wrists and your elbows.

When passing, bend your knees and try to get your arms under the ball (don't worry if you get hit by the ball the during first couple attempts) and hit the ball with your "new platform" (not your wrist), push your **legs** so that the whole platform is going higher, "shrug" your **shoulders** so that the backend of the platform is going up to force the ball going to the setter (instead of going over your own head).

As a conclusion, the secret code is wrist-elbows-legs-shoulders.

    Have fun playing volleyball.

  6. Apparently, you have a eye-body coordination issue.  If you see the ball coming, you stick out your arms.  You make an attempt to pass, and it hits your wrists, but your mind wanted it to hit your forearms.

Try watching that ball all the way in, hit your forearms, and then out.  Keep your eyes on the ball "the whole time".

Check to see if you're swinging on your pass.

  7. ok well idk exactly....but are u watching the ball hit ur arms? if not then try doing that! Make sure ur hands are together and are even...like make sure 1 wrist isn't above the other....that could make a BIG difference! If u still can't get it then ask ur coach or somebody that isn't bad and u think could help! good luck!!!
