  1. dont hold you poor ughter back hen i was little my sister sufferd from them,my father never let her out and she eventually killed herself....please be carful not to let that be thefate of a wonderful young human

  2. I worked with people who had seizures.  She really should be monitored at least till they can find her the right medication to control them.  They went swimming and everything but had to have someone with them at all times.  They have some type of implant now that you can rub a magnet over so if she knows she is going into a seizure, or someone else can rub a magnet over it and will help stop the seizures.  Check with your doc because off hand i don't remeber the name of it.  It will probably depend on her age and abilty to do it.  I don't know too many who have died from seizures.

I have a friend who is on medication and after a few years, she is pretty independent.  She even went on to have 3 children.

I had seizures as a child but I grew out of them by the time i was 3.  I was a premmie and they said every time I ran a temp, I would have one,.  I grew out of it.  There are different types of seizures and it would be best to talk to her doctor about it and also the hospital for support groups.

hope all goes well with her.

  3. Ask your doctor.

  4. My kids do not have seizures, but my husband does. he has now been seizure free for a little over 2.5 years.

I assume since she just started having the seizures that she is under the care of a neurologist. depending on how often the seizures occur, if she has a warning aura, and what kind of seizures she has she should be able to live a full life. My husband has a warning aura and tends to have some tics in his face when his seizures first start, so we have time to get him to a safe place and try to administer medication to stop the seizure. Only once has he had a seizure that he could not get in a safe place.

as for your question about if she can die from a seizure...yes, sort of. She could have a prolonged seizure that damages her brain too much. She could also have a seizure and get herself into a situation she cannot get out of. My mom knows a girl in her mid-twenties who just died recently leaving her 4 kids without a mother. She was running a bath for one of the kids and had a seizure and fell head-first into the tub and drowned. her fiancee called and one of the kids said something that alarmed him and he came home and found her.

  5. I hope you have sought medical attention for the seizures? Are they due to epilepsy or what? Generally individuals with seizures have warning signs or causes before them, so watch her habits of what she does if you can pick up on any pattern. As for being outside by herself, if you can watch her from a window, that should be fine. Ask her to keep the door slightly open when she is in the shower, keep an ear out. I would say only let her go swimming with you accompanying her and never in water over her head, if she went into a seizure during this time she could inhale water. Hopefully your physicians have started her on a medication to help reduce the risk of seizures, there are plenty of children that actually live with them. Your doctor's office can probably point you towards a support group with other parents. As for dying from them, it depends on the individual and the cause. I have worked with individuals who had many seizures in a month, they didn't die but, that was their condition and how they always were. It would be up to your healthcare professional to tell you if they can be fatal to your daughter or not.

  6. Well It depends i use to have seizures all the time at school;(i use to pee on myself and didn't even feel the wetness also i made funny noises to warn people that it was time for me to have them. No I doubt if she'll die from them;(she will just have to see a Neurologist and take pills thats all.

  7. sorry, but i don't have a child that has seizures, but i know a kid from my school who does, he has this nurse/doctor who's always with him, everywhere he goes, cause his seizures starts randomly and someone has to be there to watch him.

  8. Ok, my child doesn't have seizures, but I have had a couple in my lifetime. You didn't say how old your daughter was, so that might make a difference in what you allow her to do.  First off, make sure she has been seen by a neurologist and has them controlled by medication.  If there is something causing them, an underlying condition, that needs to be addressed as well.  Until she her seizures are controlled, you should probably keep a closer eye on her.  She probably won't die from them, the biggest danger is falling and hitting your head on something.  They have a lot of medications that keep seizure disorder under complete control.

  9. See a doctor.  Are they grand mal or peti mal?  Some seizures can be 100% controlled, with medicines.

  10. My first wife started having seizures when she was about 15 yrs old.  You don't say your child's age, but it looks like she is a lot younger.

Anyway, my wife (I knew her family for years, and was around when some of the seizures happened).  Over a 5+ yrs period of time, she passed out and was taken to 6 different hospitals in two states.  She was actually taken to Stanford Medical Center 3 or 4 times.  Not one doctor could determine the cause of the seizures.  (this was 35 yrs ago) hospitals and tests given, are far better these days.

Any all these doctors kept saying she will grow out of it.  Well one day just before her 21st birthday, she had another seizure, while she was at work.  She was rushed to a hospital, and was dead within hours.  She never regained consciousness, after she seized.  Her main artery, in her brain ruptured...something today can be fixed before it tears

Like I mentioned above, these days tests are far more thorough, and could discover what the cause is.  DON'T wait until its too late!!

  11. Well, I don't know how old your daughter is, and I'm certainly not a neurologist. This I can tell you. My brother was born with Epilepsy and is now 46 years old. He had grand-maul seizures really bad when he was an infant. Virtually everyday. He grew out of the condition as a baby and hadn't had any seizures until he was 17 years old. His doctor at the time believed it was attributed to taking LSD and other experimental drugs that were around in the 70's. He's had them ever since and has to take Dilantin which controls his Epilepsy. You need to get your daughter to a neurologist so they can determine what is wrong with her so they can treat her. If she has her seizures while awake, then YES, you need to monitor her every move so that she doesn't hurt herself. My brother only has seizures in his sleep.

Just get your daughter to that neurologist. There could be other reasons why she having those seizures and I'm not going to sit here and do all the guess work.

    Hope she'll be ok.

  12. I'm sorry I can't be of uch help, but you should definatley ask your doctor these questions. He or she will no what is safe for your daughter.
