Only three brave ones will face off with the mighty Frankel in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood
The fear of facing Frankel has reduced the field of runners competing in the Group 1 Qipco Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on 1st August, 2012. The few brave ones, who will be taking on the mighty Frankel, are
Bullet Train, Farhh and Gabrial.
With 11 victories under his belt, the wonder-horse is on his way to collect his 12th on the trot.
In 2011, Frankel turned in a spectacular performance and won the Qipco Sussex Stakes, when he bolted over the 1 mile track and defeated the Richard Hannon trained, Canford Cliffs by a tremendous margin of five lengths.
The charge of Sir Henry Cecil has everything to lose in this race. So far, the son of Galileo, foaled by mare Kind, has not disappointed. With someone as good as Frankel, the only anticipated result is his victory.
The world’s highest rated horse has proved himself to be brilliant time and time again. After an injury scare earlier this year, the colt has proved that he is absolutely fine when he landed the Group 1 JLT Lockinge Stakes at
Newbury in May and the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, 2012.
Trainer Sir Henry Cecil is optimistic about his form, he said:
“We gave him an easy time immediately after Royal Ascot before bringing him back into fast work.”
The five-year-old, Bullet Train, is not easily scared by Frankel, and will be taking a shot at the money.
Coming from the same mare as Frankel, and being his stable-mate would seem to be enough but the bay horse has a lot of work to do considering he hasn’t scored or secured a placed finish since May, 2010.
Among the runners, who are competing in this race, the Godolphin owned, Farhh, looks the most determined.
Trained by Saeed Bin Suroor, the runner has a career record of 3-1-1 in 5 starts and finished second to Nathaniel in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown in July, 2012.
The Aidan O’Brien trained, Excelebration, will not compete this time around. Maybe after losing to Frankel five times, he wants to wait before he faces the runner again.
