  1. Any weapon is merely an extension of yourself.  This being said, it matters not which weapon you choose.  Apply yourself to the practice and you will find usefulness to it, both armed and unarmed.  As well, you may find other every day items that could double as the weapon for which you have trained.  So train hard with each weapon and as you master that weapon look forward to learning the next while staying polished on what you have learned.  In this manner you will become well armed at any time, in any place, with any thing, or even with nothing.  Some would argue that you should only master one weapon since you could never possibly be truly good at more than one thing.   Read that over a few times and you will see how preposterous that statement truly is.

  2. I'd stick to the Bo because it is a more practical weapon than the nunchaku. Besides the nunchaku is taught incorrectly 99% of the time.  The nunchaku is more likely to get you in trouble legally.  My kempo system did not contain the Bo so I studied Okinawan Bo techniques. They are practical and don't contain unnecessary moves that could get you in trouble.

  3. The Bo is very practical like the reasons you mentioned. The nunchaku is excellent for speed and coordination.  My weapon that I train in is the sai.  It is not taught in the kenpo systems but uses the same striking and blocking principles and also develops hand speed and strength.  The double kali sticks are another good one.

  4. Bo is more realistic than nunchakus but they are fun as well. Kamas are great flashy but escrima are what you'd prolly use in a real fight b/c it'z like a baseball bat or something. Tonfas are what police officers carry. Swords are just for show. I personally like the nunchakus("nunchucks") b/c they are fast, powerful, and can be used for demos. After that I'd do bo for power and then kamas for speed.

  5. I like the bo staff because one can use the same principles with ordinary objects, such as pool cues, broom handles, umbrellas, etc... How often do you walk around in public with a katana or nunchucks?
