Oojooba expected to win the bet365.com Handicap
Oojooba is rated favourite for the bet365.com Handicap at Sandown in England on Friday, April 27, 2012. The triumphant horse will walk away with a cash prize of £6,848 in the end.
The going will be heavy in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 7 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 14:55 GMT. A total of eight runners will be seen in action today and their names are as follows: Strident Force, Clare Island Boy, Daneking, Oojooba, Arch Of
Colours, Samba King, Little Dutch Girl and Tingo In The Tale.
Earlier, nine horses were scheduled to take part in the race, but Open Water’s name was withdrawn. He was definitely one of the top contenders for victory and could have attracted the maximum number of bets in his favour. However, his trainer Andrew Balding
has confirmed that he will not be seen in action today.
The bookies believe that Oojooba will take advantage of the absence of Open Water, as she is a very good runner. She does not have much experience, but her performances have been impressive, thus the punters are likely to place a lot of bets in her favour.
The three-year-old filly performed exceptionally on her debut, as she finished on top of the table by a clear margin of two and a half lengths. She was not the favourite back then, but still impressed one and all at the end of the day.
However, the Roger Varian’s trainee failed to keep the momentum going afterwards, as she ended up seventh in her most recent outing. She will need a strong effort in order to prevail in the bet365.com Handicap today.
Oojooba will be partnered by Andrea Atzeni, who has won quite a few races at this level, but needs to improve the overall strike rate.
Daneking, trained by John Gosden, might also attract a few bets in his favour today, as his recent form has not been bad. He has taken part in three events until now, winning one of them. Moreover, he has also secured one third place finish, which shows
that he is a consistent performer.
Apart from the top two favourites, Strident Force and Clare Island Boy will also be the ones to watch out for in the race.
