Question:

Oops...ibuprofen and alcohol?

I've had a bit of a toothache for the last week and I made an appointment next week at my dentist. A little while ago, I took one ibuprofen because my tooth was acting up.

I completely forgot I took the pill and I opened a bottle of semi-sparkling wine that was given to me as a gift. I rarely drink (3-4 times a year).

I only drank one glass. I'd hate to dump out the whole bottle now but, I will if it is dangerous to drink it. Would I have any ill health effects if I drank a few more glasses?

Thanks!

  1. You should be ok but don't drink any more.the general "rule of thumb" is not to mix drink and drugs/medication.

  2. I think you are fine. I have done it from time to time and have never had any bad side effects. I think that the warning is on the bottle because it would probably be bad if you did it every day, but just once wont hurt.

  3. I have taken two ibuprofen for a headache and then went and had two or three glasses of UV blue and a few shots and I was fine. Just don't do it again.

  4. Don't worry I did exactly the same thing at a party once, just try not to make it a habit! The combination of alcohol and ibuprofen may irritate your stomach though, so maybe just stick to the one glass!

  5. The reason you shouldn't drink while taking Ibuprofen is the effects that both have on the liver. Both are toxic to the liver if overused and the combination of both makes it worse.

One ibuprofen shouldn't be bad and you have had one drink but why gamble at all with your liver? Just don't make it a habit.

The way you treat your body now will effect how healthy you are later in life.
