Opa Loca looking to win Fillies Maiden
Opa Loca is going to break her maiden by finishing first in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden which will be held at Dundalk racecourse on Wednesday, April 11.
The high-voltage contest over a distance of 1 mile is scheduled to start at 7:20 (GMT). The prize purse is packed with €6,900.
Opa Loca is girding up her lines to browbeat seven potential rivals including Sli Na Fiarana, Hairstyle, Sparkling View, Alheera, Buille Cliste, Guess Who and Hunting Goddess.
The Edward Lynam-trained bay filly started her career with 4th spot in a race on August 22, 2010. She moved forward to clinch 3rd and 2nd positions in two back-to-back races during June 2011.
The hot favourite filly excellently grabbed 3rd top position in her last outing on March 30, 2012. These four starts have properly exposed the novice runner’s inherent racing skills along with granting her reasonable odds in the betting market.
The four-year-old maverick sprinter will make an accurate use of her capabilities and talent in today’s marathon and register her first ever success.
The filly’s chances to win can be as high as 85 percent provided she does not lose her stamina. Despite being stronger than all, she will have to be wary of Sli Na Fiarana and Hairstyle who can trigger upsets anytime.
Sli Na Fiarana finished 6th in her maiden race on November 18, 2011. The Mrs Denise Foster-trained bay filly brilliantly grabbed 3rd position in the very next outing on December 23. The dashing runner bagged a runner-up rank in her
last start on March 30, 2012. Now, she is quite confident to unleash a decent run in the Maiden.
On the other hand, Hairstyle has been performing well since the dawn of 2012. David Peter Nagle’s bay filly superbly attained a runner-up position on February 17. She moved forward to finish 4th and 7th in the two subsequent starts.
A fierce battle is likely to go down at Dundalk today. The race will be packed with twists and turns. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the contestants.
